Italy

Italy is, without a doubt, #1 popular travel destination for leisure and, of course, for destination weddings in Europe. This country is so diverse and rich in the variety of wedding locations, wedding venues, experience, culture, historical and UNESCO heritage.

Italy has 20 regions, among which there are very popular and almost everyone heard their name, such as: Tuscany, Sardinia, Sicily, Puglia, Campania. But there are beautiful regions for weddings that are less popular and with huge potential for international weddings.

Each region differs from others and has its own culinary dishes typical for the region as well as peculiarities. While planning a destination wedding, we recommend our couples to stick to the characteristics of the specific region, which they have finalized, with the purpose to create the local region ambience.

Here we recommend only some regions and areas of Italy which are worth taking into consideration while planning a destination wedding, and how far or close they are from the nearest international airport, what you need to consider while choosing a specific location inside this wonderful country for your destination wedding. Why only some? Italy is adorable from its one end to another, with its every single corner!

Tuscany Region
Capital: Florence
International airports: Florence, Pisa

Looking for a wide selection of 5* or 5* luxury hotels for your destination wedding experience? – Your choice should fall on Florence, located in central Italy. A perfect combination of nature, history, some of the world’s most recognizable Renaissance art and architecture works, relatively small city and a good level of city hotel service lead you to the broad wedding property selection which are nestled in and close by the key Tuscan city.
If you are a nature rural lover – go for the countryside between the cities! But be ready for less comfortable conditions, lack of English speakers and original Italian everyday habits.

Lazio Region
Capital: Rome
International airports: Rome

Being not only the capital city of the Lazio region but of the whole country, Rome attracts an endless number of tourists and couples. In Rome and around Rome you can find numerous wedding venues – from 5* luxury hotels to villas and ex-convents with frescoed ceilings and ancient Murano glass chandeliers. History & art are in the air of this city.

Lombardy Region
Capital: Milan
International airports: Milan, Bergamo

Who doesn’t know Lake Como or at least hasn’t heard about Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore? I guess, none! But do you know that except the above-mentioned popular places, there are Bergamo, Monza and Brescia with extraordinary wedding venues and spaces. If you are interested in the lakes, then definitely you should go for them. In case you are a fashion and/or shopping lover, do not compromise! Fly into Milan for the bachelorette/bridal party with fashion flair and then go to the nearby cities and towns for your wedding day. The distance is 45-60 minutes drive only.

Sicily Region
Capital: Palermo
International airports: Palermo, Catania

So many times I heard from my Italian colleagues about their favorite place in Italy…And yes, it is Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, located just off the “toe” of Italy’s “boot.” A visit to Sicily is truly a feast for all senses. The Mediterranean island is a foodie’s paradise. Of course, you might think that everyone says the same about the whole Italy. And yes, you are correct, when Sicily is known among Italians for its generous foody hospitality. Keeping this in mind, you can be sure that your wedding guests will have a real wedding feast, once in Sicily!!

Campania Region
Capital: Naples
International airports: Naples

I am sure, we will barely find a traveler who has never heard about Amalfi Coast, Capri, Positano… Villa Cimbrone? The most popular wedding venue in Italy among world-known movie actors, singers, and millionaires. Apart from such popular venues, Campania is a real cradle of hidden gems in Naples itself, Pompeii, Sorrento… When Amalfi coast is known for small weddings due to its natural landscape limitations, we apply a completely different approach to having your large destination wedding in Campania.

Apulia Region
Capital: Bari
International airports: Bari, Brindisi

Blue sky, white houses and sky-blue waters of the Adriatic sea. This is Apulia, which is “Puglia” in Italian, a southern region forming the heel of Italy’s “boot”. Those white houses are called masserias. Once you are in Puglia, it is a must to have your wedding in masseria! Puglia became known for international tourism and destination weddings relatively not long ago. But with every year more and more couples discover the beauty of this region in Italy.

Other beautiful regions of Italy, such as: Umbria, Sardinia, Abruzzo, Veneto, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Basilicata, Calabria are worth being mentioned and considered as your wedding destinations in Italy!
